    Confluent Senior Software Engineer II

    We are building a new category in data infrastructure - data streaming, at Confluent. Organizations can harness the full power of continuously flowing data to innovate and win in the modern digital world.

    About the Role:

    This role is critical to bringing Confluent's mission to put event streaming at the heart of every organization. You will play a key part in several initiatives for the Stream Governance product portfolio.

    You will be responsible for delivering critical functionalities such as Confluent Schema Registry, Data Contracts, Schema Validation, and Schema Linking.

    In this position, you will collaborate with the team and stakeholders to design, architect, and develop a cloud-native service for Stream Governance.

    You will provide technical leadership and mentor an engineering team to tackle complex distributed data challenges at scale.

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Develop a cloud-native Stream Governance platform for Kafka and real-time data, which is a multi-tenant, highly available, and scalable service.
    2. Architect a complex engineering system from end to end.
    3. Partner across engineering and other key stakeholders to create and execute the overall roadmap for delivering a top-notch Data Streaming Platform.
    4. Evaluate and enhance the efficiency of our platform's technology stack, keeping pace with industry trends.
    5. Solve complicated technical projects with high quality and provide technical guidance to the team.
    6. Take responsibility for developing, managing, and maintaining a mission-critical service with a 99.99 SLA running on 88+ AWS, GCP, and Azure regions.
    7. Enhance the stability, performance, scalability, and operational excellence across multiple critical systems.

    Requirements:

    1. 6+ years of relevant software development experience.
    2. Technical expertise in large-scale systems engineering or distributed systems.
    3. 2+ years of experience with designing, building, and scaling distributed systems.
    4. Experience running production services in the cloud and being part of on-call rotation.
    5. Expertise in cloud-native technology, including networking & security.
    6. Prior experience working on AWS, GCP, or Azure and a deep understanding of cloud best practices.
    7. Ability to influence the team, peers, and management using effective communication and collaborative techniques.
    8. Proven experience in leading and mentoring technical teams.
    9. Drive results by removing friction and improving the development stack.
    10. BS Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience. An advanced degree in computer science is preferred.

    The estimated annual salary for this position is $171,600 - $201,600, along with an annual bonus and a competitive equity package.
