Laboratory Technician

LABORATORY TECHNICIAN needed in the Conneaut area. This is a temporary position that could lead to permanent for the right candidate. Hours will be Monday-Friday from 11pm-7am. Pay starts out at $15-$18 an hr. and increases once hired in permanently.

General Summary of Position:

As a member of the Research and Development team, the Laboratory Technician will be responsible for preparing materials, monitoring processes, and running quality tests to ensure that standards and specifications are met.

Daily duties include performing and documenting results of chemical experiments, coating properties, and test methods.


Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintains safety, quality, and compliance in accordance with departmental policies and procedures
• Performs routine quality control tests
• Applies coatings to substrates for analysis
• Performs chemical analysis on coatings and materials associated with the coating process
• Prepares laboratory scale batches of coatings
• Documents and maintains a detailed and precise record of work performed
• Provides Technical Manager with reporting results and maintains open communication at all times with management regarding day-to-day processes
• Assists in the development of new coating technologies
• Builds working relationships and provides support to technical functions within the company
• Performs calibration, verification, and maintenance of laboratory equipment
• Continuously look for ways to improve application techniques and/or tools to improve overall quality, efficiency, and safety
• Handles, positions, and moves materials and products
• Maintains a clean and organized working environment
• Other job duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Associates in Chemistry, or equivalent degree and/or work experience is preferred
• 0-3 years of related laboratory experience
• Must be able to work with hazardous chemicals
• Bilingual a plus
• Strong math skills
• Mechanical aptitude
• Able to lift 50 pounds, climb stairs, kneel, stoop, sit, and walk extensively
• High degree of attention to detail
• Proficiency of Microsoft applications, including but not limited to: Outlook, Word and Excel
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to write coherent, organized reports
• Professional demeanor
• Must be motivated towards safety, productivity improvements, and overall quality awareness
• Willingness to learn new tools and systems
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet aggressive deadlines
• Can work independently and collaboratively as a team member to meet goals
• Consistently meets or exceeds our internal and external customers' expectations
