- Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, investigate, and communicate.
- Instruct students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods. Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests.
- Incorporate SEL curriculum and AVID strategies into daily check and connect sessions and ELA instruction.
- Develop and teach ELA content related to the program theme and in collaboration with team members.
- Design and implement strategies that encourage students to read independently and share their reflections about books with others.
- Utilize Schoology as a platform for student learning and family engagement.
- Create a positive environment to ensure successful learning for all students.
- Communicate with families to share information about program content and student progress.
- Confer with parents or guardians, teachers, site coordinators, and extended learning coordinator in order to resolve students' behavioral and academic concerns.
- Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations.
- Guide and counsel students with adjustment and/or academic issues or special academic interests.
- Understand and maintain boundaries and confidentiality with students, families and staff.
- Supervise students during transitions between classes/activities, arrival, and dismissal.

- Current Minnesota Teaching License in Communication Arts and Literature, Reading, English as a Second Language, Special Education, and/or Library Media Specialist.

Middle School ELA Targeted Services Summer School TeacherPOSITION INFORMATION:
Program dates and times are July 8-August 1, Monday-Thursday, 9:00-1:00 p.m. The daily schedule for this position is 8:30-1:15 p.m. The program site is Cottage Grove Middle School. Summer school planning and teacher professional development will occur on June 26.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Provide instruction and guidance for students attending Middle School Targeted Services Summer School.
PROGRAM INFORMATION:
Each day students will participate in a morning home base session, lunch, and three structured class periods: math, ELA, and an elective. Home base, ELA, and elective content will be planned around a common theme. Teachers will lead home base sessions, teach one content area, and have the option of a duty-free lunch break. Class rosters may include students from up to two grade levels (5-6, 6-7, or 7-8). The staffing ratio will be 20:1. Every student will have access to a mobile device.
