    Job Description

    The Department of World Languages and Literatures at the University of Nevada, Reno invites applications for a 9-month non-tenure track, Lecturer II, or Teaching Assistant Professor position in American Sign Language (ASL) with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2024. Primary responsibilities include teaching ASL language courses as well as courses in the American Sign Language and Deaf Studies minor program. This is a non-tenure track, continuing position with opportunities for promotion. This non-tenure track faculty position in the Department of World Languages and Literatures will teach 24 credits per year, typically 12 credits in fall and spring semester. This non-tenure track faculty position additionally participates in professional development activities and performs service to the department, the College, and the University. Service associated with this position includes, but is not limited to, in-person advisement of undergraduate students and serving as the coordinator of the American Sign Language and Deaf Studies minor program.

    Required Qualifications

    Lecturer II - Master's Degree in ASL, Deaf studies, or a related field (e.g., second language acquisition) by July 1, 2024. Native or near-native competence in ASL and English. Experience teaching beginning and intermediate learners of ASL.

    Teaching Assistant Professor - PhD in ASL, Deaf studies, or a related field (e.g., second language acquisition) in hand by July 1, 2024. Native or near-native competence in ASL and English. Experience teaching beginning and intermediate learners of ASL.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Experience and demonstrated success in recruitment and advisement. Experience of language coordination and supervision. Evidence of attention to diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching and/or service.

    Grants-in-Aid for Faculty Employees

    The University is proud to provide a reduced-rate tuition benefit to faculty and qualified dependents. Faculty can take up to six credits per semester at a reduced rate.
