    Description

    Minimum Education


    Satisfactory completion of formal radiologic technology training in an ARRT approved school and able to meet the requirements for registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.

    Must be registered within 6 months of hire date.

    Must keep up registry requirementsincluding continuing education credits.


    Essential Functions

    1) Maintains a high quality of patient care; positions and handles patients with a high degree of professional ethics, care, tact, courtesy, patience and safety.

    2) Greets and introduces self to patient and describes nature and time requirements of requested exams.

    3) Provides radiation protection to the patient, staff and self, according to prescribed safety standards.

    4) Adjusts technical factors in proportion to patient and body part being examined while minimizing radiation.

    5) Assists in the movement of patients to and from wheelchairs, carts and radiographic tables.

    6) Performs all routine radiographic procedures and views according to departmental procedures and policies.

    7) Performs surgical and portable exams as assigned or needed.

    8) Practices sterile techniques and prevents cross-contamination to patients and instruments. Sets up special trays. Use the time out procedure.

    9) Performs office procedures in absence of clerical personnel.

    10) Retrieves exams and reports as needed according to departmental policies.

    11) Demonstrates complete working knowledge of all radiographic equipment (diagnostic) in department.

    12) Keeps room and work area neat and orderly. Maintains and rotates supplies/inventory. Keeps work area stocked.

    13) Organizes, plans and directs activities relating to patients and procedures for designated area/room.

    14) Identifies problems and communicates to the imaging services leader or clinical coordinator; offers solutions as appropriate.

    15) Checks the order for history/special instructions. Furnishes radiologist with the patient's history on assessment form. Completes all paperwork where applicable. Scan required paperwork into PACS.

    16) Maintains good working relationship with radiologistcommunicates/consults with radiologist regarding examination as necessary.

    17) Performs specific duties requested by the leader of Imaging Services with a good attitude.

    18) Attends regularly scheduled departmental meetings, staff in-service education and training programs.

    19) Promotes good interpersonal relationships within the department and hospital.

    20) Is willing to learn new and different techniques and new imaging modalities


    Ex:
    CT, Nuclear Medicine, Mammography, Angiography.

    21) Assists radiologist in administering prescribed radiolucent or radiopaque contrast medias for simple or complicated exams.

    22) Works well with our PACS.
