    The Role You Play

    The Controller is responsible for providing leadership within a dynamic and innovative community behavioral health organization, working closely with the CFO. The Controller is responsible for assisting with all financial operations while aligning financial systems with the mission, vision and strategy of the Pawnee Mental Health Services. They will help lead and drive performance, guide the organization in all revenue maximization, accounting, auditing, revenue cycle management matters through a rapidly evolving landscape of behavioral health care ensuring financial and strategic success.

    Essential Responsibilities

  • Drive performance in areas of revenue maximization and productivity benchmarks.
  • Prepare and manage budgets to facilitate achievement of Pawnee's goals and objectives.
  • Prepare and maintain regular financial reports, analyze results and develop recommendations.
  • Prepare and present monthly and annual financial statements to Board of Directors and Foundation Board of Directors.
  • Prepare and manage Cost Reports.
  • Experience with Cost Analysis and financial modeling.
  • Oversee cash flow planning and ensure availability of funds as needed.
  • Oversee cash, investment, and asset management.
  • Oversee financing strategies and activities, as well as banking relationships.
  • Hire, supervise and evaluate a qualified staff and ensure they are trained to meet the needs of their position. Drive and monitor performance, document concerns provide feedback and take corrective action as necessary.
  • Develop, review and revise polices and procedures related to areas of responsibility.
  • Work cooperatively with program directors and their staffs to ensure the efficient and effective provision of services.
  • Monitor and assist as needed with the annual financial audit. Implement corrective action as necessary.
  • Provide fiscal services for the Pawnee Mental Health Services Foundation Association.
  • Provide leadership and serves as a member of committees and work groups as assigned.
  • Advise, consult and serve as a member of the management team in the development and execution of short term and long range plans based on agency goals, strategic planning and growth objectives.
  • Maintain and advance knowledge and skills related specifically to position or to field of work through regular review of pertinent materials and participation in training events as approved by supervisor.
  • Adhere to the standards, policies and instructions established by Pawnee Policy and Procedure and any applicable ethical codes within field of employment.
  • Review and comply with the Pawnee Code of Conduct outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Serve on relevant trade organization committees.
  • Who You Are

    The ideal candidate for this position will be result-driven and will have a commitment to the mission of Pawnee Mental Health Services and its growth and expansion. The Controller will have a track-record of success, driving results as a senior manager/leader in a community behavioral health, hospital, community health center/Federally Qualified Community Health Center. Must be result-driven, good steward of revenue and drive revenue maximization strategies. A background in Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC), Community Mental Health Center (CMHC), or Federally Qualified Community Health Center (FQHC) is required.

    Required

  • Must be of good moral character, be a strong steward of revenue and maintain honesty and integrity in all financial operations, reporting and business dealings.
  • Master's degree in finance, accounting, business administration or a relevant field. A CPA highly desired.
  • Three years of finance leadership experience, preferably in community behavioral health, Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC), Community Mental Health Center (CMHC), or Federally Qualified Community Health Center (FQHC) with a budget of at least $25 million.
  • Personal computer skills, hands-on knowledge of accounting systems, electronic health records including strong Microsoft Excel experience.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Preferred

  • CPA strongly preferred.
  • Five years of finance experience, in a community behavioral health, Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC), Community Mental Health Center (CMHC), or a Federally Qualified Community Health Center (FQHC).
  • Experience with SAGE Accounting suite.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs.
