    DESCRIPTION

    This is a position for an accounting technician that comes with a lot of responsibilities. You will handle a variety of tasks that require confidentiality, independent judgment, and a good understanding of District policies. Your main duties will revolve around maintaining financial records, running reports, and handling general accounting work in accounts payable. You will also work closely with other departments to gather and review financial, statistical, and administrative information.

    EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES
    • Assist with daily accounting operations such as accounts payables, accounts receivable, payroll, and reporting.
    • Enter data using accounting software, Microsoft products, and web-based modules.
    • Maintain fixed asset records.
    • Help with payroll processing and records.
    • Support accounts receivable and accounts payable workflow.
    • Assist with bank reconciliations, journal entries, and P-card administration.
    • Research and resolve accounting or documentation issues.
    • Assist with grant and reimbursement requests.
    • Compile internal and external reports.
    • Support annual external audits and year-end reports preparation.
    • Participate in the annual budget process.
    • Manage the petty cash fund.
    • Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and laws.
    • Maintain financial records according to established systems.
    • Handle incoming calls and information accurately.
    • Review and summarize fiscal, statistical, and administrative data.
    • Perform additional assigned duties.

    TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
    • General accounting practices, procedures, and budgeting knowledge.
    • Proficiency in accounting software, spreadsheets, and financial reports.
    • Knowledge of filing, record-keeping, and office tasks.
    • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and modern office practices.
    • Basic math, English, writing, and computer skills.
    • Ability to prepare financial reports and maintain records.
    • Accurate data entry and use of spreadsheets and database software.
    • Handle time-sensitive situations and manage multiple tasks well.
    • Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
    • Effective communication and relationship-building abilities.
    • Follow instructions and maintain confidentiality.
    • Adapt to changing work schedules and priorities.
    • Use good judgment in all situations.

    JOB REQUIREMENTS, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE

    ENTRY LEVEL
    • Associates degree or equivalent in business, finance, or related field.
    • Familiarity with accounting software.
    • Typing speed of at least 50 words per minute.
    • 1 year of accounting experience, preferably in government fund accounting.
    • Experience with accounts receivable and accounts payable functions.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Publisher, Excel, and Outlook.
    • Strong customer service, telephone, and communication skills.
    • Math and English proficiency.
    • Ability to multitask and manage schedules efficiently.
    • Proficiency with smart devices.
    • 2 years' experience within a similar role.
    MASTERY LEVEL
    • Bachelor's Degree in business or finance.
    • Certifications outlined in the job description.
    • 5 years of relevant professional experience.
    • Excellent communication and multitasking skills.
    • Provide exceptional customer service to all stakeholders.
    OTHER NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

    Must be at least 18 years old. Valid Colorado driver's license required. Background checks and screenings will be conducted. This job involves primarily sedentary office work but may require physical tasks at times. Communication with various parties is essential. Sitting, talking, and some physical movement is expected in this role.

    SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION

    If you are not a Colorado resident, you may be eligible for a relocation allowance of up to $5,000.
