- Set strategy and policy for dermatopathology for the health system
- Drive change and implement new technologies and practices in the department
- Clearly communicate expectations and changes to dermatopathology faculty
- Oversee pathology sign-out service of 6 dermatopathology faculty
- Provide direction of dermatopathology services at 8 hospitals within the IU Health System plus the affiliated county hospital (Eskenazi Hospital)
- Teach medical students, residents, and fellows, including 2 dermatopathology fellows
- Doctorate or terminal degree
- American Board Certified in anatomic pathology or anatomic and clinical pathology; also boarded in dermatopathology
- Experience with quality assurance, inspection, accreditation process. employee relations and scheduling
- Able to obtain IN license

Due to a retirement, the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Indiana University School of Medicine in conjunction with IU Health Physicians, are recruiting an experienced dermatopathologist to fulfill the role of director of dermatopathology.
The individual selected will be based at the IU Health Central Pathology Laboratory (IUHPL). Anatomic pathology is now comprised of over fifty pathologists, with a plan for continued expansion. The dermatopathology division has 6 board certified dermatopathologists and serves 8 hospitals in the IU Health Hospital system and Eskenazi Health (affiliate county hospital). The dermatopathology division supports a comprehensive dermatopathology fellowship training program for up to 2 fellows per year. A team of 9 certified pathologist assistants and 2 grossing technicians serve as support to the anatomic pathology faculty including dermatopathology. The ability to recruit and attract top talent to the growing department has been strong over the past 18 months. The ideal candidate will arrive at a freshly renovated histology and immunohistochemistry laboratories designed to accommodate the integration of digital pathology into the practice. Pathologists also have open access to a research histology/immunochemistry pathology core for clinical and translational endeavors. These factors afford our new director of dermatopathology the rare opportunity to build and innovate.

Hospital Overview
The IU Health Pathology Laboratory resides in a 150,000-square-foot dedicated central laboratory building in downtown Indianapolis with first-class facilities. The lab processes over 100,000 cases per year, and houses an electron microscopy laboratory, eight full-time certified pathologists assistants, twenty residents and eleven different fellowships. IU Health pathologists are engaged in promoting innovation and excellence in the education of medical students, residents, and fellows, with strong support for research in an environment that provides the ability to collaborate with a diverse cadre of subspecialized pathologists.
