    Under the general supervision of a teacher, the Behavior Aide assists in the special education program for handicapped students who have behavior challenges that may require a Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) who are identified as Emotionally Disturbed (ED).

    These positions differ from Instructional Assistant positions and the positions may be located at various sites. Tentative interview dates are TBD.

    Requirements / Qualifications


    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Associate of Arts Degree or 48 units from an accredited institution, or passing score on a locally-administered proficiency exam;
    • Two years' experience working with special education students or any combination of training and experience that would indicate possession of the above required skills and abilities;
    • BA degree or equivalent in an academic or related subject desirable;
    • Employees will be required to become certified in the following areas: First-Aid, CPR and Professional Assault Crisis Training and Certification (Pro-ACT);
    • Possess or obtain upon employment, a valid California Driver License;
    • Provide proof of automobile insurability;
    • Meet the physical requirements necessary to perform assigned duties safely and effectively, including lifting fifty (50) pounds on an occasional basis and in excess of fifty (50) pounds with assistance.

    BENEFITS Employees are provided with an insurance plan, which includes health, vision, and dental insurance for employee, spouse, and dependents, at a shared cost.

    Participation in this plan is mandatory for employees working 35 plus hours a week.

    Employee will be a member of the Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS) to which both the employee and MCOE contribute.

    Employee may elect to be a member of the Mendocino County Federation of School Employees Union. MCOE does not participate in the Social Security system.
