    LNA, Days - 36 hours a week

    Position Summary:

    Assists hospitalized patients with activities of daily living and as assigned, delegated and supervised by a Registered Nurse. Communicates with Charge Nurse, Nurse Manager and co-workers, as appropriate about patient needs. Is able to respond quickly and appropriately in emergent situations.

    Qualifications:

    Education/ Experience: High School graduate or GED. Current Licensed Nurses Assistance licensure in Vermont. Current BLS certification required.

    Other Requirements: Able to communicate effectively. Computer Literate. Experience working with an electronic health record preferred.

    Requirements

    Essential Functions Of The Position:
    • Provides care, treatments and services within the LNA scope of practice as delegated and supervised by an RN.
    • Sets up and assists patients with meals, including feeding patient if warranted. Follows patient's plan of care regarding fluid intake. Measures and records I&O when ordered.
    • Observes and appropriately reports to the RN any changes in the patient's condition, physically, mentally or emotionally.
    • Notifies patient's assigned RN/LPN promptly when patient complains of pain, shortness of breath or other discomfort.
    • Performs and records results of bedside glucose testing demonstrating appropriate technique consistent with hospital policy and procedure. Reports abnormal results promptly to Charge Nurse or other RN/LPN.
    • Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety. Manages and operates all equipment safely and correctly. Removes unnecessary clutter from all patient care areas.
    • Restocks patient rooms as necessary to maintain all rooms in a state of readiness.
    • Maintains CPSI POC competency and documents per hospital standards and policies.
    • Takes the initiative to find productive and appropriate ways to keep busy during slow times.
