Summary

The Dental Assistant provides the patient with high-quality care by performing a variety of office, laboratory, and patient care duties. This usually entails helping the dentist handle patients, instruments, and supplies during the treatment of the teeth, mouth, and gums.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensure quality patient services by providing thorough patient care, effective communication, and personal attention in a gentle, caring manner.
• Prepare the treatment rooms, patient records, equipment, and necessary instruments for dental procedures.
• Record accurate and concise patient treatment information in the dental program as instructed.
• Take blood pressure and record in chart at dentist's request.
• Provide chair‐side assistance to the doctor, including but not limited to basic and complex restorative, surgical, endodontic, emergency, and preventative dental treatment procedures.
• Effectively communicate and develop a strong working relationship with the doctor and promote teamwork through cooperative and professional behaviors.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications / Education / Licenses

• Certification or associate degree in an accredited Dental Assistant program.
• Dental Radiology certification.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Bilingual English and Spanish preferred; must be able to read, write and speak English.
• 0-2 years of experience.
• Basic computer knowledge, MS Words and MS Excel.
• Basic administrative skills required.
• Customer and interpersonal skills required.
• Knowledge of HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability) preferred.
