Provide information services that promote student success and support faculty research, including general and specialized reference services, consultation services, and innovative information delivery services.
Provide a broad range of liaison services, including outreach, information literacy instruction, and collection management with Howard University Hospital (HUH).
Design and oversee instructional programs for HUH and health sciences faculty, staff, and students so that they are taught the use of the latest information technologies in relation to the education of healthcare professionals.
Cultivate collaborative initiatives between the Library and the Clinical Services Departments of the various health sciences schools and academic clinical departments.
Collaborate with faculty, residents, and students in clinical settings to use
Evidence-Based resources for decision making.
In collaboration with other LSHSL Librarians, develop resource tutorials, teach online and in-person library courses, and plan programs for continuous training for all staff on the use of electronic resources.
Create and maintain Springshare LibGuides and/or Research Guides for the Health Sciences colleges and hospital residencies, as well as designing and maintaining subject-specific guides for relevant and developing topics.
Develop programs supporting graduate biomedical education, teaching, and learning experiences to support the medical school curriculum.
Perform Literature Searches and/or Reviews for Howard University Health Sciences Faculty, Physicians, and Residents at Howard University Hospital.
Represent the library and participate in the development of new and continuing curriculum initiatives.
Participate on project teams and committees as assigned.
Collaborate with faculty and students in the classroom to use Evidence-Based resources for decision-making.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual narrative reports.
Participate actively in professional and scholarly activities.
Stay informed of new developments in librarianship/information services and instructional and information technology to improve the services and efficiency of the Louis Stokes Health Sciences Library.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Excellent interpersonal, listening, problem-solving, and group dynamic skills.
Strong information searching skills and experience with searching and presenting results for literature searches.
Demonstrated proficiency and capabilities with personal computers, database programs, and online library-relevant information technology applications. Preferred proficiency with Ex Libris Alma, Primo, and PubMed.
Knowledge of current and emerging technologies in digital and web-based library services.
Understanding of the research life cycle, including assisting faculty with scholarly research, activities, and publishing.
Ability to establish and maintain effective and harmonious work relationships with library staff, university officials, faculty, students, and professional colleagues at other institutions and organizations.
Experience with library instruction and public speaking, both in-person and virtual.
Strong initiative and ability to function independently and as a contributing member of a team.
Ability to multitask and prioritize; ability to demonstrate innovation and flexibility.
Excellent writing and presentation skills in oral and written English.
Commitment to professional issues, demonstrated through a strong interest in local or national committee work, research, publication, etc.

MINIMUM
REQUIREMENTS: Master's Degree in Librarianship (MLS/MLIS/MSLS/MSLIS) from an ALA-accredited school of library or information sciences and 4 years or more of professional experience, preferably in a health sciences academic research library environment.
