    Description
    We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Quoting Engineer to join our machine shop team.

    The Quoting Engineer will be responsible for analyzing customer requirements, interpreting technical drawings, quoting outside processes and developing accurate and competitive price quotations for machining projects.

    The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering, proficiency in CAD/ Cam software, (and excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external clients.


    Key Responsibilities:
    Analyze customer requests for quotations (RFQs) to understand project requirements, specifications, and expectations.

    Review technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD models to determine the scope of work, materials, machining processes, and manufacturing feasibility.

    Collaborate with sales, engineering, and production teams to gather necessary information and ensure alignment on project details.

    Calculate material costs, tooling costs, labor hours, machining time, outside processes, and overhead expenses to accurately estimate project costs.

    Identify opportunities for cost optimization and value engineering to enhance project profitability.

    Maintain accurate records of quotations, including pricing details, project specifications, and communications with customers.


    Qualifications:
    Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field or 5+ years related experience.

    Proven experience in a similar role within a machine shop or manufacturing environment.

    Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Esprit, NX) and familiarity with CNC machining processes.

    Experience with 5 axis milling machines, multi turret mill turns and swiss style lathes.

    Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately.

    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate technical information clearly to customers.


    Demonstrated ability to multitask, prioritize workload, and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

    Knowledge of cost estimation techniques, pricing strategies, and manufacturing principles.

    Commitment to quality, accuracy, and customer satisfaction.


    Position Requirements

    Skills/Experience:

    • Previous experience operating CNC lathe machines
    • Proficient in the use of hand tools and measuring instruments such as micrometers
    • Strong blueprint reading skills and understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
    • Knowledge of materials handling techniques for loading and unloading parts from machines
