    Description

    Apache is seeking a petrophysicist with 15+ years of experience to perform reservoir description and characterization studies, and to assist with all aspects of petrophysical operations assigned to our International New Ventures Team located in Houston, TX. This position will report to the Director of Petrophysics.

    This role will be primarily responsible for the following:

    •Assessing New Ventures opportunities at various levels of exploration maturity around the globe

    •Advanced petrophysical modeling (deterministic and probabilistic)

    •Ability to design and manage log and core data acquisition programs

    •Integrating open and cased-hole logs, core data, production log data, and geological and geophysical data into multidisciplinary projects

    Preferred and Minimum Requirements:

    The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:

    •Minimum 15 years oil and gas experience and a B.S. in Geology, Geophysics, or Engineering

    •Proven track record working New Ventures or frontier exploration is strongly preferred

    •Expert assessment of conventional reservoirs in deepwater depositional systems

    •Exploration experience beneficial (conventional and unconventional)

    •Experience in rock physics/seismic rock property analysis including fluid substitutions and shear velocity estimation

    •Experience using Interactive Petrophysics (IP)

    •Ability to make technically and economically sound recommendations with incomplete information

    •Excellent communication skills - presentation experience to management and JV partners; effectively communicates work procedures to relevant personnel

    •Ability to work and lead in a fast-paced environment within an integrated multi-discipline team; capable of directing the work of others

    •Excellent collaboration and project management skills; mature and professional attitude

    Experience with the below software applications is preferred:

    •Interactive Petrophysics (IP)

    •GEOX or other probabilistic assessment tools

    •Microsoft Office Suite - Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams
