    Benefits Administrator

    We are the Metropolitan Council, regional government for 7-county Twin Cities metropolitan area. We plan 30 years ahead for our region's future and provide transportation, wastewater, and housing services.

    We support a diverse workforce reflecting communities we serve.

    Human Resources works with all divisions to provide proactive solutions in recruitment, hiring labor relations benefits training organizational development occupational health wellness. Benefits Department currently has two vacancies for Benefits Administrator.

    The role involves managing tasks associated with employee benefit plans according active terminated retired employees of Metropolitan Council policies contracts bargaining unit agreements federal/state regulations laws. Ensures accurate processing status changes union changes new hire benefit enrollments provides guidance active inactive employees medical dental flexible spending life insurance LTD deferred compensation programs retiree benefits COBRA continuation coordinates collection benefits premiums employees leave absence.

    This position is eligible hybrid telework arrangement both remote onsite candidate permanent residence Minnesota Wisconsin posting creates six-month eligibility list current future openings.

    Key Responsibilities



    • Explain provisions insurance benefit programs employees retirees provide information online enrollment site answer questions changes contracts coverage determine requests meet legal requirements perform administrative functions within Benefitfocus system.

    • Ensure work status changes qualified status affecting employee insurance coverage correctly processed audit ensure HRIS system PeopleSoft accurately reflects benefit elections loaded from system record Benefitfocus Participate open enrollment activities conduct benefits segment New Employee Orientation act liaison between employees retirees carriers proper claim service correct payment resolve discrepancies inform filing appeals necessary audit various billings accuracy research reconcile errors monitor leaves absence missing paychecks run automated processes manual process collect premiums where payroll deduction occurred coordinate billing process premium collection document benefits medical disqualification meetings administer Qualified Medical Support orders employment verifications



    • The Benefits Administrator manages tasks related to employee benefit plans including status changes union membership ,new hires as well claims disputes These duties require strong communication skills particularly when dealing complex issues such as policy interpretation contract negotiations& healthcare law understanding..Main responsibilities include data entry management invoicing answering routine inquiries regarding coverage details troubleshooting problems encountered through interaction office technology tools while also demonstrating patience professionalism throughout encounters employee public audiences skilled way...Performing multiple task assignments ensures timely efficient completion specified goals meeting customer satisfaction retention prioritize maintain organized workspace maintaining accurate records effectively manage priorities multi task efficiency optimizing ability important deadlines adherence standard established practices efficiently ensuring overall successful outcomes prioritize emphasizing time clarity accountability visualizing driving every succeed team atmosphere attaining better realize great gained vision found deliver ongoing excellence
