    A skilled clinician with advanced knowledge, assessment and therapeutic skills for respiratory conditions and consistently performs at that level. Routinely incorporates other system assessments into care. Reliably demonstrates excellent practice and documentation to department standards with minimal-to-no-variation.

    Using a foundation of evidenced-based practice, manages care and implements treatment plans in collaboration with patients, their families, physicians and other members of the health care team.

    Provides input and feedback for improved clinical practice and is receptive to alternative opinions. Serves as a preceptor to all learners in their respective area. Serves as a model to others.

    • Assesses respiratory care needs, applies diagnostic testing & therapeutic plans with skill and insight.
    • Documents patient care according to professional standards and departmental guidelines.
    • Accurately communicates patient responses to respiratory therapy interventions and recommends need for modification of patient care plan.
    • Embraces Quality as evidenced by: Comprehension of processes, data, & outcomes; Participation in PI initiatives, Application of standard procedures, protocols, & documentation.
    • Embraces professional development through formal education, professional certification, internal/external learning, and professional organization participation. Precepts new learners and students.
    • Demonstrates innovative application of technologies that support patient care; Active with implementation of evidenced-based-practice and new knowledge generated by respiratory research and endorsed by Department.
    • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

    Position Compensation Range:
    $ $48.21 Hourly

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    Education:
    Graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy educational program. Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy required; Bachelor degree in Respiratory Therapy preferred.

    Experience: 3 years of acute/critical care Respiratory Therapy full-time work experience if baccalaureate prepared or 5 years of acute/critical care Respiratory Therapy full-time work experience if associate prepared.


    Licensure:
    Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential with the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required. Licensed to practice as a Respiratory Therapist in the Commonwealth of Virginia required. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required. Active NBRC Specialty Credential (e.g., RRT-ACCS, RRT-NPS) required for Medical Center Respiratory Therapists; ACLS required for TCH Respiratory Therapists.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS
    Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently traveling and bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
