Job Summary:
As a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), you will be responsible for providing direct patient care for Better Options for Elder Care/Rite Choice Ventilator Specialty.
Under the supervision of registered nurses (RNs) or licensed practical nurses (LPNs), you will assist patients with activities of daily living, monitor their vital signs, and provide emotional support to residents.
Responsibilities:
Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs): Help patients with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding as needed.
Monitor Vital Signs:
Take and record patients' vital signs including temperature, pulse, respiration rate, and blood pressure.
Open Communication:
Observe and report any changes in patients' conditions or behaviors to the nursing staff.
Collaborate with other healthcare team members, including nurses, therapists, and social workers, to coordinate and deliver comprehensive care to residents.
Medication:
Administer medication (contingent upon nursing delegation), knowing the basics about medication indication, side effects, and administration parameters. Promptly re-order medication refills, fax/call the pharmacy or doctor's office.
Mobility Assistance:
Assist patients with mobility by helping them to walk, transfer from beds to wheelchairs, and repositioning them to prevent pressure ulcers.
Likewise, you must have physical stamina and the ability to perform tasks that may require lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods as required.
Nutritional Support:
Assist with meal preparation, feeding patients who require assistance, and monitoring their food and fluid intake. Educate residents on healthy eating options and habits specific to their dietary needs.
Patient Hygiene:
Ensure patients' personal hygiene needs are met, including oral care, skin care, and changing bed linens.
This includes following infection control protocols and adhere strictly to safety guidelines to prevent the spread of illness and ensure a healthy living environment for residents and staff.
Medical Equipment Operation and Maintenance:
Operate and maintain medical equipment such as blood pressure cuffs, glucometers, and mechanical lifts.
If there is an issue with the equipment, you will reach out to the vendors and create a ticket to correct the error.
You are responsible to follow up until the equipment is operational.Resident Advocate:
You must always respect and uphold residents' rights and confidentiality, demonstrating empathy, respect, and professionalism in your interactions.
Emotional Support:
Provide emotional support to patients and their families, listening to their concerns and offering reassurance when needed. Compassionate and patient-oriented approach to care, with a genuine desire to improve the quality of life for residents.
Patient Safety:
Maintain a safe environment for patients by following proper infection control protocols, ensuring proper use of restraints (if applicable), and promptly responding to patient needs or emergencies.
Adhere to all policies, procedures, and regulations established by the nursing home and regulatory agencies to maintain compliance and uphold standards of care.
Documentation:
Accurately document all patient care activities, vital signs, medication passes and other relevant information in medical records per Washington WAC.
Sanitation:
Maintaining a clean and organized environment, including residents' rooms, common areas, and equipment.
Continuing Education:
Participate in ongoing training and educational programs to enhance your skills and knowledge in geriatric care and nursing practices.
Ensure you are providing certificates to appropriate departments for your state records.Meetings and Company Communication:
Participate in monthly staff meetings for training sessions and policy updates. Utilize the company Slack App to ensure you receive the latest information and updates as they are posted.
Efficient Time Management of
All Tasks:
Complete tasks given to you within the time allowed. If you are unable to complete all your tasks, you must pass on the tasks during shift change.
Flexibility Working Schedule:
Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays, as needed to ensure adequate coverage and continuity of care.
