    Description

    Summary:

    The controller's function is to direct the accounting department operations of the MUOs, compiling financial reports based on financial statements and implementing policies and procedures for financial reporting. They work with leadership and cross functional members of the management team to develop budgets and ensure that expenses are in line with projected revenues.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    1. Ensure the culture of the franchise is adopted and maintained within all accounting departments.
    2. Assign quarterly objectives based on the annual plan and budget to all accounting department managers, hold managers accountable.
    3. Define, revise, and implement policies, procedures, and guidelines across all accounting departments to ensure consistency within all MUOs.
    4. Evaluate overall performance by gathering, analyzing, and interpreting key performance metrics (KPMs).
    5. Work with the executive management team and the division managers to develop an annual budget.
    6. Prepare budgets by establishing schedules, collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data.
    7. Ensure an effective process is in place for the collections of accounts receivable.
    8. Prepare, improve, and issue monthly financial statements for the executive management team and external parties.
    9. Achieve budget objectives by scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions.
    10. Maximize return on financial assets by establishing financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems.
    11. Active participation in influencing business growth, direction, strategic planning, financial forecasting, and acquisition integration as a member of the executive management team.
    12. Work closely with the executive management team to develop an economic evaluation of various employee benefit programs.
    13. Guide financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
    14. Protect assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
    15. Monitor and confirm financial condition by conducting audits and providing information to external auditors.
    16. Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing financial reports, and advising management on needed actions.
    17. Assist with the screening, hiring, training, and retaining of accounting department employees.
    18. Perform employee reviews and develop corrective action plans if needed.
    19. Maintain accounting department results by training, coaching, disciplining employees, and appraising performance results.
    20. Continue professional and personal development of leadership, management, and team building, skills.
    21. Maintain a high degree of tact and confidentiality.

    Necessary Experience and Skill Set:

    1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or relevant field
    2. Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods
    3. Proven experience in an executive role
    4. Experience with strategic planning and business development
    5. Excellent leadership and organizational skills
    6. Outstanding written and oral communication skills

    Normal Working Hours, Additional Working Hours, and Travel Requirements:

    • This is a full-time position working hours between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday–Friday, minimum 40 hours per week. Occasional travel required.
