    Description

About the Community Economic Defense Project (CEDP) and CED Law

Our mission is to partner with low-income and working people to build economic and racial equity. We confront economic abuse and invest in community wealth, using legal, economic, and advocacy tools to challenge and dismantle unjust systems.

We strive for a world where all people have what they need to live and thrive. Our organization works with clients to build an integrated approach to eviction, foreclosure, and homelessness prevention. This centers the legal and financial needs of housing-insecure families and uses various tools to keep them housed.

We have served over 50,000 low-income Coloradans across 45 counties, distributing over $200 million in emergency assistance. Our model has been cited as a best practice by the White House, HUD, the Urban Institute, and in the media.

    Homeowner Defense Supervising Attorney Role

We seek an experienced Homeowner Defense Lawyer to oversee CED Law's Homeowner Defense Team. The ideal candidate will have deep experience working in foreclosure defense and homeowner advocacy.

    • Lead all aspects of the Homeowner Defense Team in preserving homeownership through defensive litigation, servicing claims, and other actions to preserve homeownership.
    • Supervise homeowner defense attorneys and paralegals in their work on public trustee foreclosure, judicial foreclosure, loan servicing violations, and other cases protecting homeownership.
    • Collaborate with the Director of Homeowner Defense and the Homeownership Affirmative Litigation Attorney on policy needs, case planning, and case strategy.

The successful candidate will have three or more years of experience in litigation, managing and developing programs, and administrative oversight. They will also lead in advancing the Homeowner Defense program's mission to provide training and support for the Homeowner Defense Team and community partners.

    Position Requirements

    We require:

    • Colorado Bar Admission and JD
    • 3+ years' experience in housing law, real estate, bankruptcy, lending, litigation, or related law and litigation experience
    • 1+ years of supervisory, mentoring, or other relevant leadership experience

A competitive salary grade of $97,500 per year, flexible time off, benefits package, and 401k are offered. Employees who utilize two languages or more at work are eligible for a $2,000 salary differential per year added to the salary grade listed above.
