We are looking for a Pharmacy Technician to join the team at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. In this position, you will work flexible hours in the inpatient pharmacy located at the main hospital in Lawrenceville, Pittsburgh.

The Pharmacy Technician, Associate role involves providing pharmaceutical care to patients in the UPMC Health System. This includes assisting with medication preparation, filling, and distribution following regulatory standards set by the Department of Health, The Joint Commission, and State Board of Pharmacy.

Responsibilities:

• Support in filling medication orders accurately and maintaining proper labeling and stocking procedures.
• Aid in preparing oral and injectable medications, including intravenous admixtures and TPN, ensuring correct patient administration at the right time.
• Demonstrate proficiency in working in the Sterile Product area for cytotoxic and hazardous drugs.
• Participate in medication distribution, handling controlled substances, and returning discontinued medications.
• Maintain positive relationships during the medication distribution process and handle inquiries professionally.
• Assist in the procurement, storage, and distribution of investigational and study drugs.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for medication storage and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
• Practice proper hand hygiene, utilize computer systems for patient information, and uphold documentation accuracy.
• Conduct sales transactions, manage inventory levels, and follow all relevant laws and regulations.
• Help in training pharmacy personnel and students, maintain controlled substance records, and participate in quality improvement activities.
• Job Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent, completion of accredited pharmacy technician program, or relevant pharmacy experience.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

• Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting certification with renewal
• Act 33 certification with renewal
• Act 34 certification with renewal
• Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
