    The Global Research Institute (GRI) empowers teams of William & Mary students and faculty to make a difference in the world.

    Based in the Office of the Provost, GRI supports a whole of university approach to advance W&M by developing ideas, convening partners, creating and analyzing data, and inventing new methods.

    The Institute's approach to incubate and scale applied research helps researchers push research frontiers and produce insights that matter at W&M and beyond.

    At any time, under the auspices of the Institute there are several research projects, most grant-funded, with the largest being AidData.


    Position Summary:
    GRI invites applications for an Associate Program Manager, Research Events. The position offers an opportunity to deliver world-class events that showcase applied research conducted by both faculty and students.

    Events in this category include Research In Progress (RIP) seminars, research workshops, guest lectures, and events hosted by any of the nine research labs affiliated with GRI.

    This position you will under the supervision of the Director of Forums & Research Initiatives to lead and manage engagements with a multitude of stakeholders and partners to encourage uptake and use of GRI research projects.

    The position focuses on logistical planning and execution of events to include, but not limited to coordinating with guest speakers and hosts to develop structure and vision for talks, handling room reservations, audio/visual, catering, transportation, registration and reminders, vendor rentals, etc.

    This is a non-exempt position, eligible to receive overtime in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act. This position may be subject to overtime during high peak times, etc.


    Position Months:
    Faculty or Staff: 12 month

    Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or an equivalent combination of training, education and/or experience indicating possession of the preceding knowledge, skills and abilities.

    KNOWLEDGE,


    SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Experience in event support
    • Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to handle multiple responsibilities with a high degree of accuracy and completeness
    • Working knowledge of project management and program administration,
    • Demonstrated ability to organize and execute events with multiple stakeholders from start to finish
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a demanding and complex work environment, to carry out assignments in a timely manner, and to adapt to changing situations and priorities.
    • Experience managing multiple, diverse assignments.
    • Experience communicating effectively, orally and in writing, with a diverse population of constituencies
    • Experience using communications and design applications (e.g. using Canva) to produce flyers and promotional materials.
    • Experience running in-person and online events.
    • Experience with volunteer management
    Hybrid (works remotely at least 1 day per week but not full-time)
