- The Supply Technician position provides logistical material support for wildland fire and incident support.
- Validates incoming orders through the computerized inventory management system, to verify the requestor is authorized to order, is authorized to receive items ordered and supplies all information to issue correct items.
- Serves as a customer services representative to clarify or correct ordering information, offers suggestions for substitutions of non-available items, recommends alternate supply sources, and relays shipping information.
- Processes orders electronically by inputting proper customer information; obligating available inventory and obligating appropriate fiscal code in ICBS and other programs and FedEx access for printing warehouse issue document.
- Reviews requisitions, resource orders, supporting documents and other materials to figure out priorities and supply actions required, status of action, changes in requirements and unexpected requirements and to expedite delivery of emergency items.
- Coordinates all actions with transportation, shipping, returns, dispatch centers and other supply units.
- Maintains accurate accounting and reporting systems for nonexpendable property and performs routine phases of property management.
- Provides answers to inquiries relative to the proper identification of items, accuracy of National Fire Equipment System (NFES) numbers and other miscellaneous inquiries concerning unit of issue, management codes and similar information.
- Coordinates with the National and Geographic Area Coordination Centers, direct ordering units, and private individuals to assure accurate inventory management.
- Oversees shipping and receiving functions in response to internal and external supply orders. Ensures equipment is properly prepared and packed for shipment to various locations, and proper forms and records are accurately completed and signed.
- Purchase supplies and equipment using simplified acquisition procedures through the Department of Interior (DOI) integrated charge card program.
- The incumbent assists with on-the-job training to various temporary, seasonal, detailed, or permanent employees in the use and function of all processes and procedures associated with the supply office functions.
