Job Responsibilites:

Quality Engineer must perform the following tasks: Provide quality support as needed for the mechanical products (Mortise Locks, Bored Locks, Exit Devices, and Keys & Cylinders) of the business.

Assess quality issues that arise in production to identify the cause, contain the problem and initiate corrective action. Create Nonconformance Reports and work with production and suppliers to establish corrective actions for nonconformances. Participate on corrective action teams and verify corrective action effectiveness. Oversee the Material Review Boards for mechanical products to ensure the timely disposition of nonconforming material. Review and approve temporary deviations from standards. Oversee packline audits to detect wrong and missing products from orders. Perform packline, pick-n-pack, quality and SPAR inspections of outgoing product. Reduce wrong and missing customer complaints through root cause analysis and corrective action. Work with production and engineering teams to resolve defective customer complaints. Evaluate customer returns of defective locks for root cause. Create Quality Alerts to notify production of high risk issues. Design, develop, implement and audit quality tools such as scan verify and pick-to-light for assembly/pack lines. Design, develop, implement and audit poka-yoke solutions to prevent quality problems. Establish audit plans for in-process inspection and ensure defined requirements have been met.

Assist with gage calibration, as well as Receiving and First Article inspections as needed, Participate in new product launches to support quality initiatives.

Assist Manufacturing Engineers with in-process testing of locks and evaluate effectiveness in the execution of those tests.
Experience/EducationBachelors degree in Engineering or other specialized field required. 3+ years experience working in Quality Assurance role. Strong mechanical, analytical project management and problem solving skills. Ability to design, develop and execute inspection/test protocols. Six Sigma Green or Black Belt a plus. Must have the ability to read and interpret drawings, including GD&T. Knowledge and use of mechanical inspection equipment preferred.

Personal Requirements:
Good mechanical, analytical, mathematical and computer skills. Ability to work independently and self-motivate. Ability to read drawings including GD&T. Ability to design and develop inspection/test protocols. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at once. Strong root cause identification and corrective action skills. Work methodically, accurately and with proficiency. Work well with others in a close team environment and share responsibilities. Communicate effectively with Engineers, Managers, Associates, and external suppliers. Enthusiasm to learn and develop professionally. Ability to take direction and accept delegated tasks.
