    Description
    The Business Analyst is a full-time, 12-month position responsible to the Director, ERP Services.

    The Business Analyst provides complex application support and guidance for the implementation and operational support of software and Banner system processes, oversees the completion of all support tickets for both Banner and general IT issues, thoroughly test system solutions, patches and updates that are created from those tickets, and ensure that tickets are completed in a timely manner.

    Essential Functions and Duties

    • Provide complex application support and guidance. Serves as a point of contact for the resolution of complex business problems. Able to quickly assess problems and identify resolutions
    • Provide ERP software expertise and operational knowledge to help business process owners and team members in conducting fit/gap analysis and evaluation of design and process choices to make best practice decisions. Focus includes continued process and workflow analysis, enhanced module functionality, and application/upgrade support
    • Works with customers and IT teams to develop requirements, maintain application configuration, test, and supports and provide expert analysis for the Ellucian Banner software module(s). Provides functional support and operational knowledge to lead the design, configuration and implementation of the application software modules or database and/or technical components
    • Monitors records systems to ensure the integrity of the data. Identifies data issues within the Banner software and resolves issues in a timely manner
    • Responds to standard information requests; answer questions and finds solutions to unusual system problems. Assist with the creation and delivery of end-user training and training materials. Provides initial post implementation support to end users on production system
    • Responsible for the test scenarios/scripts, coordinate testing efforts, participates in testing of designed solution and verify/validate results of conversion efforts and testing results
    • Provide support through day-to-day tracking and follow up on issues and questions or daily operations

    • Ability to drive the design or review of test cases, process change requests, and manage a project's scope, acceptance, installation and deployment of software applications
    • Knowledge of higher education enrollment, scheduling, financial aid and curriculum
    • Ability to independently apply technical judgement, solve a wide range of problems, develop practicable and thorough solutions, use effective communication and listening skills, and apply consultative skills
    • Assess user needs and provide appropriate support
    • Ability to analyze data requirements and access methods, coordinate and implement data exchanges and conversions, and integrate multiple applications and/or systems
    • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (specifically, Word, Excel and Outlook) to implement, develop and maintain computer-based business operations. Advanced knowledge of large database systems (specifically Ellucian Banner) to implement, develop and maintain computer-based business operations
    • Self-motivated to stay current with emerging technologies and recommend and implement improvements. Self-motivated to stay current with emerging office technologies and recommend and implement improvements
    • Ability to independently apply technical judgement, solve a wide range of problems, develop practicable and thorough solutions, use effective communication and listening skills, and apply consultative skills

    • Facilitates decision making process required to successfully execute project plans and contribute to the creation of an accurate project plan and task list
    • Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with faculty and staff across the college to foster collaboration with effective results in support of student learning, achievement and student success
    • Ability to evaluate current business processes and determine how the business office can work most efficiently within the confines of Ellucian Banner, and to be able to make relevant recommendations for changes to both office procedures and the student system and then assist in implementing those changes
    • Confer regularly with immediate supervisor, other department personnel and/or various firms/organizations/individuals external to the College to exchange information and resolve problems
    • Ability to balance priorities to accomplish assigned tasks within the required time frame and to be able to shift quickly between several tasks without loss of continuity
    • Ability to express ideas effectively in oral and written form. Competence to compose and edit correspondence, proposals and reports that may require the ability to relay complex or adverse information with tact and diplomacy
    • Ability to accept and provide effective supervision, assignments, change and correction
    • Engage in meaningful and intentional professional development appropriate for areas of responsibility
    • Carry out all responsibilities and objectives in a professional manner
    • Maintain professionalism when dealing with all staff and other customers while fostering positive working relationships

    Qualifications
    Required Education/Experience

    • Associate's degree in business administration, computer science or other related field
    Preferred Education/Experience

    • Bachelor's degree in business administration, computer science or other related field
    • Minimum of two years working experience in performing business analyst functions

    • Broad, strategic decisions about the vision and direction of the College and the strategic direction of OTS will be referred to the CIO
    Working Conditions

    • Typical Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm work schedule, with an expectation for additional work hours when necessary
