    : Job Summary:
    Perform and document preventive maintenance, safety checks, quality control procedures, and routine repairs on all instruments and equipment located in assigned laboratories, minimizing downtime and keep in accordance with regulatory requirements.

    Essential Responsibilities:

  • Upholds Kaiser Permanentes Policies and Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities and applicable state, federal and local laws.
  • Perform and document periodic instrument preventive maintenance and ensure compliance to specifications and regulations.
  • Employ basic understanding of quality control procedures. Verify accurate and precise performance of instrumentation.
  • Perform and document routine troubleshooting procedures, start-up, shutdown, and operational checks.
  • Inspect, document, and rectify safety hazards.
  • Document, update, and maintain instrument/equipment inventory in laboratories.
  • Document, update, and maintain parts and supplies inventory required to perform functions.
  • Inspect, verify, and provide documentation for all services performed at a laboratory site, within the Laboratory Instrumentation Department and by means of the telephone.
  • Test, diagnose, and repair electronic circuits, employing the basics of analog and digital electronics to the component level.
  • Repair, maintain, and demonstrate an intermediate understanding of pneumatic, hydraulic, and hydro-pneumatic systems.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
  • Assume other activities and responsibilities from time to time as directed.
  • Basic Qualifications:
    Experience

  • Four years experience troubleshooting some combination of clinical laboratory, electromechanical, optical, robotic, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment.
  • Must complete and successfully pass the Basic Computer Literacy Assessment. (The Basic Computer Literacy Assessment score must be current within one (1) year. Please contact Human Resources for testing.)Excellent communication skills needed.
  • Education

  • Two year degree (AA or AS) in electronics, computer science, and/or biomed; or equivalent experience, which could include Military Biomed training.
  • License, Certification, Registration

  • Drivers License (in location where applicable)
  • Additional Requirements:

  • Basic computer hardware and software skills required.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Clinical laboratory experience.
  • Prefer Sysmex Hematology (XN) or Beckman Immunoassay (Access2) or Sysmex or Beckman UA experience.
  • Notes:

  • Travel is 85-100%; able to lift up to 50 lbs.
