Position Overview
The Bookkeeper at Thornberry Group plays a critical role in the financial operations supporting our diverse family of companies. This role ensures accurate, timely financial records and supports day-to-day accounting activities across multiple entities. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and comfortable working in a dynamic, multi-business environment.
Key Responsibilities
Core Accounting & Bookkeeping
- Maintain monthly bookkeeping for multiple entities and complete routine account reconciliations
- Update, process, and manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, including supporting the AP/AR team during peak periods or as assigned
- Maintain accurate records of financial transactions in accordance with established accounting standards
- Assist with budgeting, cash flow monitoring, and forecasting tasks
- Prepare journal entries, maintain general ledgers, and reconcile accounts regularly
Operational Support
- Perform order entry, invoicing, purchasing support, and office expense monitoring
- Assist with vendor management, payment processing, and customer billing
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements
Administrative & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Prepare financial documents, reports, and summaries for leadership review
- Coordinate with internal staff, customers, and vendors to resolve account discrepancies
- Support the Accounting Team with special projects and process improvements
Qualifications
Required
- Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Bachelor's preferred)
- 2+ years bookkeeping or general accounting experience
- Proficiency with QuickBooks and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel)
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles (GAAP concepts preferred)
- High degree of accuracy, analytical skills, and attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Effective time management and organizational abilities
- Comfort working with technology and modern accounting tools
- Experience working with multi-entity organizations or consolidated accounting
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $26.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
