Job Description
SCOPE OF POSITION
The Anesthesia Technician is a member of the Anesthesia Support Staff, who is responsible for assisting and maintaining good patient care before, during, and after surgery, routine maintenance and transporting anesthesia equipment to other departments and within the O.R.
Anesthesia Technicians are to assist licensed anesthesia providers in the acquisition, preparation and application of the equipment and supplies required for the administration of anesthesia.
All duties are performed under the direct supervision of a licensed anesthesia provider or RN. Performs cleaning, sterilizing, disinfecting, stocking and orders and maintains the routine anesthesia equipment and supplies.The certified technician must have a thorough knowledge of the set-up, operation and anesthesia delivery systems, monitors and ancillary devices.
Must possess and understand the anatomy and physiology as it applies to anesthesia care. Must be knowledgeable of all guidelines, policies and safety requirements as determined by relevant regulatory and standard setting O.R. agencies and organizations. This position will demonstrate competency in the care of Neonate, Infant, Child, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric populations.REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

EDUCATION EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED. Previous work experience in an OR/Anesthesia setting is preferred.
CPR is required for any RN, LPN, PCT, Patient Transporter or other direct patient care provider. Emergency Department, Intensive Care Units, PACU, Medical Emergency Team and Anesthesia require ACLS. Pediatrics, SICU, Emergency Department and Medical Emergency Team also require PALS.
