    Philanthropy Officer - Providence, United States - Care New England Health System

    Job Summary:


    Reporting to the Chief Philanthropy Officer and the President of the Hospital, the Philanthropy Officer (PO) will be inspired by the opportunity to partner closely with development colleagues as well as hospital physicians, researchers and staff to increase awareness of W&Is innovative programs, physician and staff achievements, and research and interdisciplinary initiatives, and then translate the work into compelling cases for support.


    The PO is responsible for the creation and implementation of strategic fundraising initiatives to amplify support for programs, equipment, facilities, and cutting-edge research.


    They will grow and manage a geographically mixed portfolio representing patients, their families, and other prospective donors in RI and the Greater New England region.


    The PO must have a successful track record of major gift fundraising at the five- and six-figure levels and be skilled at driving an active and engaged portfolio while project managing stewardship tasks and routine day-to-day matters.


    The PO will work independently as well as in partnership with the Chief Philanthropy Officer, President of the Hospital, physicians, researchers, and senior staff to develop cultivation and solicitation strategies for individual prospects.


    Incumbent must be entrepreneurial with a penchant for creating order within ambiguity and have a keen understanding of how to build strategic relationships and networks that will support long-term institutional accomplishments.


    Duties & Responsibilities:


    Build and manage a portfolio of major gift prospects to include identifying, qualifying, cultivating, and soliciting a pool of patients, their families, and other prospective donors.


    Actively solicit gifts at the $100K to $1M+ level, in addition to thoughtfully assessing prospect interest in W&I and capacity to make gifts.


    Work diligently to achieve mutually established goals related to metrics for dollars raised, gifts closed, personal visits, discovery visits, solicitations, and legacy discussions.


    Translate program-related strategies and research into compelling funding opportunities for donors that include research, education, and capital needs, supporting the strategic goals of W&I and its respective programs.


    In partnership with W&I leadership, as well as the offices of Annual Giving and Events, develop long-term cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies to both attract support from new donors and maintain support from existing donors.

    Work independently to develop fundable proposals; carry out all documentation required by prospective funders.


    Demonstrate subject matter expertise in the areas of hospital fundraising, developing relationships with physicians, and remain informed of major trends, news, and research that impact the healthcare community.

    Create and maintain strong relationships with W&I physicians and staff.

    Utilize the CRM to log activity, create call reports and progress reports, and maintain data integrity of prospect portfolio.

    Performs other job related duties as requested.



    Requirements:

    Bachelor degree required.

    Five to Seven years related experience required


    They will bring a creative approach to fundraising that encourages innovation and strategic thinking when building relationships and considering how to advance philanthropic conversations.


    The maturity to partner with high profile physician experts, high net worth donors, and prominent business leaders is needed as is the strategic ability to devise focused and systematic fundraising plans that take into consideration donor interests.

    Prior experience in a hospital or academic medical center and/or familiarity with the large complex ecosystems is preferred.


    Demonstrated ability to cultivate, solicit and close major gifts; proven experience and success in strategizing and leading the solicitation of six- and seven-figure gifts from high- net-worth individuals.

    Demonstrated track record of fundraising success in a fast-paced, large organizational structure.

    Demonstrated success in collaborating with senior management, hospital leadership, physicians and staff to advance a high-level philanthropic program.

    Maturity to navigate complex relationships.


    Must possess the negotiation, interpersonal and networking skills necessary for building relationships with external (donors, prospects, etc.) and internal constituents (senior management, physicians, researchers, hospital leadership, staff, colleagues).

    A proactive approach; takes initiative and actively seeks to deepen current donor relationships and forge new ones.

    Ability to work independently to achieve both engagement and revenue goals.

    Ability to manage multiple priority projects at once with ease and efficiency.

    Resourceful and collaborates with colleagues and external constituents at all levels.

    Superior verbal and written communication and presentation skills.

    Excellent attention to detail; strong organizational skills.

    Partner closely and diplomatically with all constituencies.

    Proficient in Raisers Edge, or a similar relationship management solution, Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

    Ability to travel nights and weekends, as needed and as global health conditions allow.
