    Overview

    The Safety Associate will help alongside the Regional Safety Specialists to promote a safety culture among all company coworkers. This position will involve traveling to different regions and operations to gain insight on safety in the ready-mix industry.


    Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Interface with Operations management on a regular basis to ensure safety compliance and buy-in
  • Attend scheduled meetings to ensure safety presence
  • Participate in investigations of all near misses, incidents, and injuries in coordination with company and state regulations, report findings to leadership
  • Be an advocate for safety
  • Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by management

  • Global Responsibilities:

  • Regular attendance and physical presence at work is an essential function of this position
  • This job may require additional duties not listed above and the employee may be asked to perform those duties to meet business needs

  • Qualifications:
    Education/Specialized Knowledge/Professional Certifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Preferably a 3rd or 4th year of completion of bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Civil or Mechanical Engineering, or Environmental Management

  • Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong and effective communication skills in person, phone, and via email
  • Strong time and project management skills
  • Ability to collaborate and work well with people throughout all levels of the company
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, detail oriented, and well organized
  • Ability to prioritize and quickly respond to challenges under tight deadlines and work well under pressure

  • Working Conditions:

  • Operates within a professional office environment, as well as at job sites which includes some exposure to extremes in temperature, moisture, dust, and noise
  • Regularly works outdoors in all weather and ground conditions
  • Routine usage of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets
  • Driving to your assigned territory and visiting job sites

  • Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to talk or hear; frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms
  • Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
