    Description
    WORK OBJECTIVE
    Salary is based on experience and/or qualifications, and is subject to negotiation

    Performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled work in the operation of a variety of heavy equipment and manual labor associated with the use of Earth moving equipment such as; backhoe, dump truck, and front loader.

    Work assignment focuses on limited areas within the City's responsibilities. Work is performed under limited supervision with moderate latitude.

    Position relies on experience and exercises independent judgment to determine the best approach by using and interpreting policies and procedures.

    High school diploma or GED; supplemented by three or more years experience in the operation of heavy equipment or garbage trucks; experience in water distribution, or sewer transmission is preferred; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience. Must have FDEP Water Distribution Level III license or obtain within 18 months of employment.


    Must have National Incident Management System (NIMS) certification (level to be determined by job classification requirements), or obtain within one year of employment.

    Must have a valid Florida Class B commercial driver's license with an air brake endorsement and satisfactory driving record throughout employment.

    Prefer candidates with the following experience and certification : 1. Four (4) years of demonstrated experience in the operation of all relevant utility heavy equipment.
    2. State of Florida Level II certification in either Water Distribution, Sanitary Sewer Collections, or Stormwater.
    In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications listed above, an individual must be able to perform each of the established essential functions in order to perform this job successfully. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

    Applicants who demonstrate they meet the minimum requirements may be subject to an extensive selection process and screening program, which may include, but not be limited to, evaluation of training and experience; psychological evaluation; polygraph examination; background investigation; medical evaluation; controlled substance screen.
