Job summary
This position works on an intermittent or sporadic basis with limited expectation of a regular work schedule. Performs emergency call-taking and dispatching law enforcement fire and emergency medical services agencies in response to requests for assistance by the public.- Answers incoming emergency and non-emergency telephone calls using E-911 computerized equipment.
- Serves as an information resource to response units and the general public dispatches documents assignment of units based on incident requirements maintains contact with department on-duty units while in service location status of units known when out of service relays requests for information through data sources returns response to units locates requested information through local state federal databases serves as command control mechanisms user agencies acts liaison between public officials ancillary services general public operates varied complex communication warning equipment radio transmitters voice message retrieval systems enters verifies removes information from local state federal data processing systems accordance policies procedures regulations participates job related training sessions seminars required attends regular staff meetings prepares maintains records reports logs required local state law policy procedure maintains confidentiality.
