    REPORTS TO: Principals

    JOB GOALS: Carry out the absent teacher's prepared lesson plans and perform all essential functions of a teacher in the classroom.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Follow the teacher's written lesson plans
    • Create a positive learning environment
    • Ensure that the goals of the plans are met
    • Consult with the principal and/or staff to resolve questions and/or concerns
    • Comply with all building procedures and schedules
    • Prepare a written summary of work completed and any special notes
    • Implement effective management procedures, maintain high expectations and uphold the student conduct code
    • Create a referral for any infractions
    • Work cooperatively with other teachers
    • Uphold computer technology acceptable use policies.
    • Build a working knowledge of the curriculum.
    • Maintain the confidentiality of privileged information
    • Take precautions to ensure staff/student safety
    • Provide appropriate and consistent supervision
    • Report evidence of suspected child abuse as required by law
    • Supervise non-classroom duties when assigned
    • Accepts personal responsibility for decisions and conduct
    • Develop appropriate student relationships and serve as a positive role model for others
    • Performs other specific job-related duties as directed

    EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university, required
    • MA Department of Education Certification preferred
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Second language or language acquisition background preferred
    • Experience working with students from diverse SES backgrounds and cultures, preferred
