- Provide services remotely by phone, in-person at ICLS branch offices, or in-person at senior centers located throughout San Bernardino and Riverside counties.
- Provide a full range of legal assistance to clients, including court appearances.
- Provide community education or outreach activities virtually or in-person at senior centers or other locations.
- Manage own caseload and work collaboratively with other ICLS attorneys and paralegals on cases as needed.
- Maintain client files, including accurate data, time, and other records for each case.
- Perform administrative tasks related to service and billings reports for funders and for program evaluation.
- Work effectively as part of a team that includes attorneys, paralegals, support staff, volunteers, and students.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Law degree and active member of the California Bar in good standing
- Prior experience with Elder Abuse, Estate planning and Consumer Law issues is preferred.
- Strong written, verbal, and interviewing skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Valid Driver's license and ability to travel for outreach, court hearings and client meetings are required.
- Humility in working with colleagues and clients across the spectrum of diversity, including race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, immigrant status, religious identity, physical and mental disabilities, and/or limited English proficiency.
- Prior experience serving low-income clients preferred.
- Self-motivated, takes initiative, ability to learn quickly and passionate about public service work, with sensitivity to those in crisis.
- Background in substantive legal areas impacting impoverished communities and experience working with organizations serving low-income clients.

Inland Counties Legal Services, Inc. is a nonprofit organization providing legal services to low-income persons residing in Riverside and San Bernardino Counties. ICLS targets services for seniors and those in the greatest social and economic need. Legal services are provided by attorneys, or paralegals under the direct supervision of an attorney. Levels of service include advice and counsel, limited action (includes negotiations and preparation of legal documents), as well as direct representation before administrative law and civil courts. ICLS provides legal assistance in eight practice groups: Elder Law, Consumer, Housing, Family Law, Immigration, Systemic/Impact, Health Law, and Public Benefits. Overview of Position
As part of the Elder law team, the staff attorney will be responsible for providing legal services to seniors, age 60 and over, in ICLS's service area. The staff attorney is expected to have knowledge in a variety of areas of law impacting seniors, and the analytical ability to determine complex legal issues. The attorney will provide direct services to qualified seniors and travel to senior centers to provide services.
