    Job Description

    The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care, delivering intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed, within the scope of their professional license and with minimal supervision.

    The role involves evaluating patients and recommending treatment plans, explaining the purpose and procedures of treatments to patients, and providing necessary education upon discharge.

    Responsibilities

    Conduct physician-prescribed treatments utilizing various ventilatory equipment, oxygen devices, and nebulizer devices.

    Perform chest physiotherapy to promote secretion clearance.

    Carry out suctioning by various methods (oropharyngeal, nasal, tracheal).

    Monitor oximetry and capnography according to policy.

    Review patient's chest x-rays for further evaluation.

    Administer 12-Lead EKG and perform basic arrhythmia recognition.

    Conduct pulmonary function studies and assist with respiratory care procedures like bronchoscopy and chest tube placement.

    Provide tracheostomy care including insertion and removal of tracheostomy tubes.

    Perform arterial punctures and monitor ventilation efficiency.

    Record all pertinent treatment information in respiratory care records and patient charts.

    Communicate effectively with attending and pulmonary physicians regarding therapy efficiency.

    Maintain accurate respiratory therapy charging and documentation.

    Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
    Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification and relevant state licensure required.
