    Department Summary
    The Department of Physics at the University of North Texas offers both undergraduate and graduate programs and is committed to carrying out state-of-the-art research across a number of areas of physics such as materials physics, photonics, computational physics, high energy physics, atomic and nuclear physics, plasma physics, theoretical and quantum physics, and astrophysics.     Position Summary
    The Physics Department at the University of North Texas seeks a postdoctoral researcher in spectroscopy and materials science. The research activity will focus on developing a novel spectrometer to understand wave-propagation in waveguides. The position will also work on developing novel materials and characterizing their electro-optical properties in the visible to the Terahertz range. The postdoctoral researcher will primarily design, built and maintain the needed spectrometers and is expected to train and closely work with graduate and undergraduate students. Contribution to scientific publications and grant applications is expected.

    Minimum Qualifications
    • PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related field.
    • Research experience in spectroscopy or materials growth and characterization.


    Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience with ultrafast spectroscopy (THz, IR, PL, and/or TA) and Raman Spectroscopy.

    Conduct experimental research under the supervision of the Principal Investigator. e.g. plan, develop, and assemble advanced spectrometers, initiate and conduct research; gather, analyze, and interpret data; connect with contemporary research activities/publications; document research activity; develop software operating the spectrometer.

    Disseminate research activity to the research community, resource and funding agencies, and the group and PI in the form of presentations, posters, research reports, and manuscripts and publications.
