    Reports to: Business Operations Supervisor

    Classification: Non-Exempt

    Salary Range: $ /hour DOE (Anticipated hiring range: $ /hour)

    Summary:

    The Financial Intake Specialist is responsible for the intake and appeals process as well as interacting with the clinical staff, physicians, patients, and their families. In this role, the Financial Intake Specialist observes superior customer service and extreme confidential nature of the patient and the organizational business.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Obtain and verify insurance eligibility for services provided and document complete information in system accurately.
    • Perform prior authorizations as required by payer source, including procurement of needed documentation by collaborating with physician offices and insurance companies.
    • Providing insurance patients clinical information such as labs, diagnosis codes, ICD-10.
    • Determine patient's financial responsibilities as stated by insurance.
    • Provide self pay estimates for services and payment arrangements, including collecting payments from patients and/or family members.
    • Configure coordination of benefits information on every referral.
    • Document all pertinent communication with patient, physician, insurance company as it may relate to collection procedures.
    • Handle inbound calls from patients, physician offices, and/or insurance companies.
    • Coordinate denials and appeal correspondence.
    • Additional duties or tasks as needed and assigned to support the center.

    Required Skills:

    • Perform Administrative requirements such as completing necessary forms, reports, etc.
    • Conducts self with professional decorum at all times and with all persons in the facility.
    • Follows established Infection Control policies and procedures.
    • Possesses the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
    • Maintains compliance with all HIPAA regulations.
    • Ability to accept assigned duties in a cooperative manner.
    • Absolute and complete professionalism and confidentiality continually maintained.
    • Flexibility and adaptability.
    • Must possess exceptional organizational and communication skills.
    • Working knowledge of office machines, such as copiers, scanners, faxes, phone systems, etc.
    • Must have excellent attention to detail.
    • Must attend and participate in all mandatory in-services.

    Qualifications/Experience/Education:

    • Must have at a minimum of 5 years experience in a Financial Intake capacity within a healthcare provider setting.
    • Radiation Oncology experience preferred.
    • Excellent MS Office and Computer skills with EMR preferred.
    • High School Diploma, Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
