    About Harris County Flood Control District:
    Harris County Flood Control District is seeking a qualified candidate for the role of Equipment Operator.

    The Flood Control District has the mission to reduce the risk of flooding in Harris County, the third most populated county in the United States, with a population in excess of 4.7 million, including the City of Houston, the nation's fourth largest city.

    The Flood Control District has jurisdiction over the primary stormwater facilities in the county, which consist of approximately 1,500 channels totaling nearly 2,500 miles in length, as well as more than 60 regional stormwater detention basins, totaling more than 10,000 acres and several wetlands mitigation banks including Greens bayou.

    Harris County Flood Control District (District) is seeking a qualified candidate for the role of Accounting Assistant.


    Reporting to the Project & Grant Accounting Department Manager, the Accounting Assistant is responsible for providing administrative accounting support to the Project & Grant Accounting Department.


    Essential Functions and Duties:

    • Process and route for approval invoices, requisitions, and payment requests.
    • Prepare budget transfers, financial journal entries, and reports as needed.
    • Monitor funding and reporting for all assigned grants and/or projects.
    • Utilize the County and District financial and project applications to monitor project budgets and payments
    • Sort, scan, and file department or project documents and correspondence.
    • Assist with preparation for periodic grant audits performed by the State and other granting agencies.
    • Assist with the preparation and submittal of revenue certification and interest allocation.
    • Respond and route to the right personnel routine internal and external requests.
    • Perform other duties that may be added or changed as the course and scope of the job directs.

    Requirements


    Education:

    • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent

    Experience:

    • Two (2) years of experience in an administrative accounting support role or a similar field

    Licensure:

    • Valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License

    Knowledge Skills, and Abilities:

    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Proficient in using Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, TEAMS, Access etc.).
    • Basic understanding of financial statements and reporting including a working knowledge of project accounting.
    • Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat Professional.
    • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and/or assignments.
    • Ability to be self- motivated. A self-starter.
    • Good organizational and analytical skills.
