- Interact with patients and families either in person or over the phone to complete the registration process by gathering patient demographics, health information, and verifying insurance eligibility/benefits
- Enter and verify patient data in real-time using computer systems to ensure information accuracy and completeness
- Obtain essential clinical information, handle referrals, pre-certifications, pre-determinations, and pre-authorizations based on insurance plan requirements
- Confirm insurance coverage, benefits, create price estimates, and conduct re-verifications when necessary
- Collect patient co-pays, discuss out-of-pocket financial responsibilities with patients, and address any outstanding balances from previous visits
- Gather data from patients and provider offices to schedule appointments for patient services prior to hospital discharge
- Respond to inquiries from patients and caregivers on routine and sensitive topics with empathy and professionalism
- Generate, review, and analyze patient data reports, addressing any issues or discrepancies as needed
- Stay up-to-date on specific registration requirements for all areas, including Main Admitting, OP Registration, ED Registration, Maternity, and Rehabilitation units

- High School Diploma / GED or higher education
- 1+ years of Customer Service experience in a hospital, office, or phone support setting
- Intermediate typing skills proficiency
- Ability to work any shift in a 24/7 schedule, including holidays
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
- Previous experience in a Hospital Patient Registration Department, physician office, or medical environment
- Familiarity with medical terminology and insurance policies/procedures
- Experience in insurance reimbursement and financial verification
- Basic mathematics skills for financial transactions
- Experience in processing financial payments
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service abilities
- Requires standing for long periods (10 to 12 hours) while using a workstation on wheels and phone/headset
