    Description

    The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for investigating and analyzing potential new suppliers, facilitating quality improvements, resolving issues that involve suppliers, and developing quality standards and requirements associated with the introduction of new and enhanced products.

    Essential Responsibilities:

    • Define and implement strategies to support and track continuous improvement and develop suppliers associated with new program launches
    • Design and document methods for process control, process improvement, testing, and inspection
    • Develop and maintain all quality records and documentation in accordance with established quality processes and customer requirements
    • Support in sourcing nominations by completing supplier risk assessment, and feasibility review and approval
    • Manage critical suppliers by following up with critical parts to ensure that key milestones are met
    • Monitor supplier deliverables including run at rates, process audits, and PPAP construction and approval
    • Support bidder list management and supplier selection/evaluation
    • Determine cause of supplier quality problems; coordinate and support implementation of effective and timely resolutions with the supplier
    • Serve as primary technical resource for all issues related to quality of assigned suppliers, products, and/or processes

    Required Qualifications for this role include:

    • Bachelors Degree in Engineering
    • 5+ years of related experience in supplier quality engineering (SQE) within the automotive industry with experience in APQP and ASQ
    • Thorough knowledge of molding processes and plastics including the development and manufacture of plastic parts, silicon/rubber components, markings and thermoplastics, and injection molding
    • Knowledge and experience with VDA 6.3
    • Basic knowledge of electronic and electromechanical components
    • Advanced computer skills, including the use of statistical process control (SPC) software
    • Thorough knowledge of manufacturing methods and processes, including flow, layout, and assembly and production equipment; lean manufacturing techniques and manufacturing quality tools
    • Advanced verbal communication skills, including group presentation
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with managers, supervisors, and employees
    • Ability to prepare complex written reports and other documents.
