    What we are looking for:


    The Sr Product Manager will be part of Stem's product management team, and will own and extend automated wholesale power market bidding applications at Stem.

    They will work with cross functional stakeholders and SMEs to ensure Stem continues to deliver industry-leading optimization capabilities in energy storage operations in wholesale power markets.

    This individual will report to the Director of Product Management and work closely with the Market Regionalization Analyst, Vice President of Product Management, and cross-functional team members to define the roadmap and execute on the delivery of optimization and bidding capabilities of the Athena platform in wholesale power markets.

    They also will be responsible for information dissemination within Stem, and stakeholder management around bidding capabilities.


    Responsibilities:


    Collaborate with stakeholders to act as primary contributor to the product roadmap for product and feature delivery related to Athena bid optimization in wholesale power markets.

    Identify and understand stakeholder needs, market requirements, and market rules and regulations and translate them into specific and clearly documented product requirement documents for the engineering team.

    Own and prioritize technical product backlog in development of Stem's bid optimization offerings, supporting products that meet and exceed customer requirements and respond to energy transition needs.

    Assess and address technical risks and delivery risks to ensure timely delivery of products and features.
    Manages commercial commitment timelines and works with stakeholders to determine priority of incoming feature requests.

    Participate in agile processes and ceremonies within the software development team, and follow high standards for automation, quality and transparency/observability.

    Collaborate with the engineering team in the high level design of data pipelines, optimization algorithms, and software systems.
    Understand, research, and follow technical trends in the energy industry.
    Conduct competitive market assessments and capability assessment regularly.
    Provide internal training and present to customers on Stem's capabilities in operating in wholesale power markets.
    Answer incoming questions about the product and its capabilities.
    Serve as a subject matter expert to the data science and software community within Stem on wholesale power markets.

    Analyze key performance indicators, report on these indicators at a regular cadence to executive leadershipDefine success criteria for testing and product acceptance.

    Facilitate the creation and maintenance of high quality product documentation.

    Foster a strong technical culture characterized by high-quality implementations, effective organizational communication, decisiveness and speed, constructive conflict resolution, and a can-do mentality.

    Establish effective and collaborative cross-functional working relationships with peers, developers, and operations teams.


    Required Experience:

    5+ years experience in delivering industry-leading software and data science products.3+ years of experience in the electric power industry with demonstrated understanding of wholesale power market operations, with a particular emphasis on North American power markets.

    Expert knowledge of energy system optimization, including an understanding of modeling approaches.
    Prior work with cross-functional product development teams, including developers, engineers, architects, quality assurance, and operations. Ensure requirements are fully understood and that implementation plans match expectations.
    Experience working in an Agile engineering organization.


    Desired Technical Experience:

    Application areas:
    Wholesale market participation and energy asset portfolio optimization, preferably using battery and solar PV systems.

    Understand and model value streams, incentives and constraints applicable to front-of-the-meter and behind-the-meter battery storage systems operating in wholesale power markets.

    Familiarity with microservices architectureFamiliarity with linear and mixed integer linear programming techniquesExperience with cloud technologies- AWS preferredExperience with BI and visualization tools such as Tableau, JupyterPower user of JIRA, ConfluenceExperience with algorithm ops: Validation, simulation and deployment pipeline, feature engineering, A/B testing

    General Qualifications:
    Extraordinary communication skills, and able to present on complex technical topics to non-technical audiences.
    Experience in high-quality companies known for excellence in engineering is highly desirable.
