**Scope of Position**: The cook provides meals according to the standard established by the officers and maintains a clean kitchen according to health and safety codes.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**:

Maintain a clean kitchen and dining room.

Keep pantry stocked, and in an orderly condition with easy accessibility.

Maintain supply inventory and order replacement as necessary.

Prepare and cook all meals and develop a monthly menu.

Responsible for the pick-ups of all food donations.

Recruit and encourage community participation in giving to the program.

Maintain and update contact information

Generate reports as needed.

Maintain all department logs.

Create physical files as needed.

Comply with instructions given by the corps officers for distribution of all meals.

Be well-groomed and adhere to the dress code.

**Standard Work Schedule:**

Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

9:00 to 11:30 cook and serve.

11:30 clean-up and organize.

Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

7:00 to 8:30 donation pick up route.

8:30 to 11:30 cook and serve.

12:00 to 1:00 help with food distribution.

1:00 to 3:00 clean and organize, prepare meal plan for next week, set kitchen for weekend cooks.

**Physical Requirements:**

Sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.

Grasp, push, and pull objects

Reach overhead.

Lift 50 pounds

Close vision and vision to drive in all types of weather conditions and light.

Ascend and descend stairways.

**Working Conditions:**

Exposure to caustic and non-caustic chemicals and materials.

Requires daily involvement in personal and professionally sensitive matters which require maintaining absolute confidentiality.

Operates ovens, stoves, fryers, knives, slicers, blenders, mixers, and other kitchen-related tools.

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required**:

Know and understand the function of the kitchen and all machines used.

Know how to plan and prepare meals to serve to large number of people.

Know how to train, plan, and direct the work of others.

Know how to maintain the kitchen and food according to the state and county regulations.

Attention to detail.

Read, understand, and correctly follow descriptions and instructions for all chemicals used.

Self-starter - organize, prioritize, plan work own tasks, and multitask.

Customer service mindset, passion to serve others.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain poise under pressure.

Ability to drive a box truck, step van, or vehicle similar in size and design to a food truck.

Speak the English language to express ideas and communicate effectively.

Is expected to have proper appearance and hygiene.

Must keep any and all activities observed confidential.

Ability and willingness to keep information confidential.

Interact with individuals using generally accepted business behaviors and standards in favorable and unfavorable situations.
