    Position SummaryThe Patient/ Materials Transporter receives errands, transports or rounds assignments from the Dispatcher or his designee.

    The transporter arrives at the department and identifies themselves to the staff and patient, informs the patient where they are transporting them to, delivers the patient to the appropriate destination and alerts the staff there of their arrival.

    All this is accomplished in a timely manner, utilizing correct body mechanics and assuring a customer service demeanor. Material rounds are made hourly to all departments for delivery and pick up of items.

    Essential Functions and Responsibilities Includes the Following:
    Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors. Performs assigned tasks of transport of patients or materials according to policy. Able to organize and care for equipment. Integrates safety , patient rights and infection control methods into work practice.

    Utilizes appropriate steps in the decision making process to include recognition and priority setting related to transport and departmental issues.

    Addresses issues with appropriate actions. Participates in Performance Improvement Initiatives Attends mandatory inservices. AdherestoallWPHCpoliciesandproceduresincludingdresscode,code of conduct,customer service, attendance and submission of annual physical Collaborates and communicates with the health care team. Completes competency requirements. Performs all other related duties as assigned.

    Any hazardous chemicals the employee may be exposed to are listed in the hospitals SDS (Safety Data Sheet) data base and may be accessed through the hospitals Intranet site (Employee Tools/SDS Access).

    A copy of the SDS data base can also be found at the hospital switchboard, saved on a disc.

    Must be physically able to frequently push/ pull/ lift heavy objects more than 50 lbs with a minimum of one (1) assist or assistive device; perform difficult manipulative, arm hand steadiness and hand eye coordination skills; walk and stand for prolonged periods of time.

    Must have the ability to concentrate on fine detail with interruption and attend to tasks for more than 60 minutes at a time.

    Individual must be able to understand theories behind customer service and timely transports. Primary Population Served
