    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    The Human Resources Coordinator aids with and facilitates the human resources processes at two locations. This role administers business support with employee and labor relations and all HR functions.

    This position assists with resolving HR-related issues and responding to employee requests and questions with appropriate rules, regulations, and policies, and ensures positive employee relations.

    The Human Resources Coordinator ensures communications follow federal regulations, California state regulations and all company policies.

    This role provides administrative support to the human resource department as needed, including auditing, record-keeping, file maintenance and HRIS entry.


    WHAT YOU'LL DO

    Employee Relations and Compliance:

    Participates in the investigation of safety accidents and injuries, identifies causes and finds corrective actions to alleviate any future occurrences.

    Works with other team members to close outstanding items based on Investigation notes, Plan of Action and Outcomes. Assist in presenting new hire and annual safety training programs that entail all the required elements of Cal/OSHA compliance. Work with department managers and HR Solutions Partner to handle employee/labor relations matters as needed.

    Emphasize the importance of building healthy teams and business relationships through empathy, respect, fairness and adherence to applicable state and federal laws.

    Answer employee questions about policies and procedures, and refer employees to other HR team members as needed. Process workers' compensation and claim reports and ensure OSHA Log 300 completion. Prepare documentation for Leave of Absence recording to ensure the system accurately reflects time off. Assist with annual open enrollment and ongoing benefit enrollment system. Maintains and audits HR processes, records, and personnel files for current and terminated employees according to protocol.

    Communication and Support:
    Communicate all concerns regarding HR, Payroll/Time & Attendance, and Staffing to the appropriate Supervisor on a timely basis. Provide customer-centric, responsive and accurate information through phone, in-person and email interactions. Work with the HR team to process all Department invoices and vendor payments. Follows Finance procedures to appropriately expense items as needed. Work with our Marketing and Communication team to design flyers, posters and e-messages for the purpose of drawing interest to engagement activities, health & wellness challenges, onsite training events, surveys, and other

    initiatives/events.


    Assist with HR and company-wide events and programs including evacuation drills, emergency action plan document updates, emergency preparedness inventory tracking and purchase recommendations, celebrations, etc.

    Assists with various committees and counsels to support HR Solutions Partner, and HR Department leads, including:
    Events Committee, Health and Wellness Committee, and IDEA Council. Assists with HR Projects and Presentations including Safety Site Visit planning. Assist with HR Dashboard preparation, including preparing reports and auditing information. May serve as back-up to Front Desk Administrative Assistant as needed.


    QUALIFICATIONS

    Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration or related field of study; or 2 to 3 years of experience in Human Resources within a non-profit or unionized environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Must be fluent in bilingual English/Spanish.

    Good knowledge of California employment and wage & hour laws, Cal/OSHA requirements.

    Must be resourceful and possess strong analytical skills with the ability to think creatively to solve problems.

    Ability to work cohesively as a team as well as work independently, demonstrating a service-first ethic.

    Well organized and detail oriented, highly adaptable and be able to maintain challenging projects

    Excellent interpersonal communication skills with strong EQ and relationship-building skills


    Must be able to use and acquire knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.

    Ability to learn new platforms in order to manage databases and create presentations.

    Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and use of the Internet, with working knowledge of HRIS systems such as ADP, etc.

    Highly adaptable, flexible and attentive to details.

    Tactful, empathetic and able to maintain confidentiality.

    Valid CA Driver's License and access to a reliable and insured vehicle. Required to travel within Los Angeles County. May be scheduled to work at either facility in Los Angeles, CA, or the City of Industry, CA

    May need to commute between Food Bank facilities in Los Angeles, CA, or the City of Industry, CA
