    Manual Machinist Summary:

    The Manual Machinist will be responsible for operating manual mills and lathes, reading blueprints, and utilizing calibration tools to ensure precise measurements. A mechanical aptitude is a valuable asset in this role.

    Manual Machinist Responsibilities:

    • Set up and operate manual mills and lathes to fabricate precision parts according to engineering drawings and specifications.
    • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to determine machining operations and sequence.
    • Perform routine maintenance on machines and equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
    • Use precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges to verify dimensions and maintain tight tolerances.
    • Identify and troubleshoot issues with machining processes, tools, or materials and implement corrective actions as needed.
    • Adhere to safety guidelines and regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
    • Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and other team members to optimize production processes and achieve production goals.
    • Maintain accurate records of work performed, including production quantities, scrap rates, and machine maintenance logs.

    Manual Machinist Requirements:

    • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or apprenticeship in machining preferred.
    • Minimum of 2 years of experience operating manual mills and lathes in a manufacturing environment.
    • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions.
    • Strong mathematical skills and ability to perform calculations related to machining processes, including conversions and tolerances.
    • Experience using precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges to ensure quality control.
    • Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues and optimize machining processes.
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
    • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
    • Familiarity with safety protocols and practices in a manufacturing setting.
    • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and machining techniques as needed.
