The Sizer Operator is responsible for ensuring the accurate grading, sizing, and packing of fruit in accordance with established quality standards and customer specifications. This role operates and monitors sizing equipment to maintain a consistent workflow, reduce downtime, and optimize production efficiency. By upholding strict quality control practices, following safety protocols, and collaborating closely with production team members, the Sizer Operator supports Cobblestone's commitment to delivering premium citrus products with accuracy, consistency, and care.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Perform pre-operation checklists prior to the start of packing production to verify equipment readiness, safety compliance, and proper line setup.
• Set up the packing line in accordance with established pack instructions, ensuring all equipment, materials, and personnel are properly prepared.
• Monitor fruit flow to ensure wax and fungicide are consistently and evenly applied throughout the packing process, maintaining product quality and compliance standards.
• Promptly notify the Maintenance Supervisor of any equipment malfunctions or concerns and submit maintenance requests to ensure timely repairs and minimal downtime.
• Organize and manage employee break and lunch rotations in accordance with California labor laws and company policies to maintain compliance and productivity.
• Communicate regularly with the Plant Manager to confirm production schedules, start times, and any adjustments required during operations.
• Coordinate with the Sticker Operator to ensure the correct stickers are prepared, available, and applied accurately during production.
• Collaborate with the Bin Loader to verify that all fruit is properly fed through the pack line and that no product is left unprocessed.
• Work closely with floor personnel to ensure smooth transitions during pack style changes and lot adjustments, minimizing delays and errors.
• Communicate with the Packaging Department Lead to confirm that the appropriate box materials are staged and available to meet production needs.
• Maintain constant communication with the Floor Supervisor and Quality Control team to support consistent product quality, accuracy, and workflow efficiency.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment; direct assigned personnel, such as Sticker Operators, to follow the same standards while ensuring compliance with all policies and procedures.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support overall production and operational requirements to ensure the success and continued growth of Cobblestone.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred; ability to communicate effectively with diverse teams.
• Basic computer literacy and ability to learn production software or touchscreen systems.
• Familiarity with workplace safety principles and best practices in warehouse or production environments.
• Ability to perform well in a fast-paced, high-volume setting and remain effective under pressure.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow instructions accurately and maintain quality standards.
• Clear and effective verbal communication skills for interacting with supervisors, team members, and cross-department staff.
• Demonstrated alignment with the company's mission, values, and culture of operational excellence.
• Team-oriented, service-focused attitude with a willingness to support coworkers and adapt as needed.
• Flexibility to take on varied duties and assignments based on business needs.
• Willingness and ability to work overtime, weekends, or extended shifts during peak production periods.

Physical Demands & Abilities

• Ability to work in a variety of environments, including wet, cold, hot, and humid conditions, as well as exposure to dust, noise, and moving equipment.
• Regularly required to lift, carry, push, and move objects weighing up to 40 pounds; occasional lifting of heavier items with assistance.
• Ability to perform frequent physical activities such as standing, walking, bending, stooping, squatting, leaning, reaching, twisting, climbing steps, and repetitive hand and arm movements.
• Capacity to stand and remain on feet for prolonged periods throughout the shift for 8/+ hours per shift.
• Willingness to work long hours, extended shifts, evenings, weekends, and holidays during peak harvest or production periods.
• Ability to maintain focus and safely perform repetitive tasks in a fast-paced production setting.
• Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with all safety protocols.
