    MRI Technologist Intern - Stony Brook Radiology, UFPC

    Location: Stony Brook, NY (May float to Commack and Riverhead as needed)

    Schedule: Full Time

    Days/Hours: Monday through Friday - 8:00am to 4:30pm

    Pay: $20/hour

Salaries vary depending on experience, education and current market for the position. Human Resources determines the external and internal equitable salary for each employee.

    Responsibilities

    SUMMARY: This position requires the MRI Technologist Intern to be creative and responsible for providing excellence in clinical care, as well as providing quality images for the provider to make a diagnosis. The Technologist Intern must work efficiently and professionally, as he/she is a representative of the Radiology department to provide services for other departments and referring physicians. The incumbent will work along-side a senior Technologist at all times. He/she will report to an immediate supervisor (Assistant Director) in the MRI section.

    Job Duties & Essential Functions:
    • Perform MRI exams under direct supervision of a senior Technologist.
    • Perform a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment with ingenuity and initiative for radiological diagnosis.
    • Assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures, as required.
    • Transfers and positions, provides immobilization devices, as required, to produce diagnostic imaging.
    • Selects proper technical factors on an individual patient basis.
    • Selects and operates equipment as directed.
    • Provides protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards.
    • Performs QA to images and facilitate in the delivery of the images and exams to PACS system for dictation.
    • Assist physician in the administration of opaque media.
    • Practice sterile techniques and prevents cross contamination.
    • Assist in performing first aid.
    • Conduct periodic quality control tests.
    • Participate or conduct research in required specialty.
    • Maintain adequate records as directed.
    • Maintain order and cleanliness.
    • Secures and returns supplies.
    • Cooperates with all personnel in the proper conduct of the department.
    • Rotates within the department and other departments and by shift as required.
    • Maintains ethical relationships.
    • Adheres to hospital and departmental rules and regulations.
    • Participate in in-service programs.
    • Participate in annual recertification training, compliance training, HIPPA training.
    • Perform all other related duties as assigned by management.
    Qualifications

    Required Education & Qualifications:
    • The candidate must have a Bachelor's Degree and be a graduate of an accredited Radiology program.
    • Temporary State of New York License in Diagnostic Radiology
    • Successful completion of an MRI Certificate Program
    • Basic Life Certification (BLS) required through the American Heart Association.
    • Must have excellent communications skills.
    Physical Demands:

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with patients, staff and medical providers. The employee must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. This position is active and requires the employee to constantly move about in the office to assist patients, staff and medical providers. Any additional physical demands will be outlined and provided by management.
