    Position Summary/Purpose of Position:


    Reporting to the Manager, Sponsored Programs Accounting, the Senior Accountant is responsible for managing sponsored research accounts from the Federal Government, State Government, Foundations and Corporations.

    Responsible for the preparation ofmonthly and quarterly invoices, sponsor-required financial reports, and the timely collection of outstanding receivables. Supervise and review the work of two or more accountants including training of staff. Provide outreach to the Centers and Institutes on campus. Responsible for identifying problems on their accounts that may affect the cash position of the University.

    The Senior Financial Accountant will monitor spending on sponsored awards for compliance with federal, state, and organizational regulations/guidelines and University policies.

    Bachelors degree from an accredited four year college or university, which included, or was supplemented by 24 semester hours of accounting.


    Experience:
    Three to five years of experience in the field of post award research administration and accounting.


    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    Knowledge of generally accepted accounting and internal control practices. Knowledge of Uniform Guidance and Federal Acquisition Regulation ( FAR ).
    Demonstrated ability to perform complex analysis and reporting, communicate accounting/compliance requirements, and achieve cooperation.
    Ability to prioritize, plan, and execute multiple assignments in a timely manner.
    Ability to work independently and as part of a team on complex assignments.
    Excellent oral, written communication and interpersonal skills.

    Ability to effectively implement high-level analytical and organizational skills in order to interpret facts and figures and make sound judgements.

    Intermediate skill in Microsoft Office Suite and financial systems.
