- Direct Patient Care:
- Assess physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs of patients.
- Develop and implement patient care plans in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
- Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapies, and other oncology medications with adherence to safety protocols.
- Manage treatment side effects and provide pain and symptom relief.
- Educate patients and families on treatment, side effects, and care plans.
- Offer emotional support and counseling to patients and their families.
- Conduct central line insertions, blood transfusions, wound care, and other procedures.
- Document patient care accurately in electronic medical records.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with an interdisciplinary team to coordinate care.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and care planning sessions.
- Additional Responsibilities:
- Maintain a sterile environment and adhere to infection control standards.
- Engage in ongoing education to stay informed on oncology nursing best practices.
- Participate in unit-based education and potentially research studies or clinical trials.
- Current and active RN license in Washington State.
- 2-3 years of experience in oncology nursing or related field.
- In-depth knowledge of oncology treatment modalities.
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Empathy, excellent communication, and patient-centered care approach.
- Ability to work well in a team and communicate effectively with diverse groups.
- Competency in electronic medical recordkeeping.
- Time management skills and the ability to work independently in a dynamic setting.
- Preferred: Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) or similar certification.
- Preferred: Experience in specific oncology populations (e.g., pediatrics, hematology).
