    4/29/2024JOB SUMMARYThis position participates in the development, implementation, maintenanceand use of the GIS system in multiple City departments; and performsrelated professional and technical work as required.

    The incumbent workswithin a general outline of work to be performed, and develops work methodsand sequences under general supervision.


    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:


    Assists in maintaining of the Enterprise ArcSDE enterprise geodatabases;Assists in developing and maintaining GIS web applications for use bycity departments and the public, publishing GIS web services, and assistingin maintaining GIS website;Provides technical assistance to city departments, other governmentagencies, and the public; provides/coordinates training for City employeesin GIS procedures and software;Coordinates and participates in the development, implementation,maintenance and use of the GIS system in multiple City departments;Analyzes GIS technology requirements of City departments; develops plansto implement new or modified technology to help meet departments' needs;Researches, evaluates, recommends and implements new GIS technologies,applications and hardware systems;Maintains inventory of GIS system hardware and software;Coordinates activities within the core GIS group, includingorthophotography, topography, tax mapping, annexations, boundary changes,etc.;Maintains quality control for information entered into the GIS system andfor existing map products;Researches, develops and establishes methodologies for map automationusing the GIS;Performs field data collection utilizing various GPS/mobile equipment;Assists with the acquisition, quality control, accuracy checking andcataloging of all new orthophotography and topographic maps; directs andparticipates in the preparation, digitizing and editing of maps;Provides general geographic and geodetic control information to the City,other agencies and the public as requested;Provides weekday, after-hours and weekend primary support for GISsystems;Receives and responds to inquiries, concerns and complaints in areas ofresponsibility;Performs general administrative/clerical work as required, includingbut not limited to preparing reports and correspondence, entering andretrieving computer data, copying and filing documents, attendingmeetings, answering the telephone, etc.;Assists in City Addressing in collaboration with Richland CountyAddressing Coordinator;Develops and deploys mobile survey applications;Attends training, seminars and conferences as appropriate to enhancejob knowledge and skills; andPerforms other related duties as assigned.


    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:
    Bachelor's degree computer science, geography or closely related field;Three (3) years of relevant prior experience;Experience with GIS software, including ESRI's ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGISPro and ArcGIS Online;Valid South Carolina Class "D" Driver's License

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:


    The work is considered sedentary in nature and involves walking or standingsome of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on arecurring basis, 20 pounds occasionally, or routine keyboard operations.
