Precise Systems seeks Biology Interns to assist with research and laboratory studies supporting the Department of Defense's mission in biomedical defense.
Working in coordination with a senior principal investigator, the microbiology intern will participate in the research, development, and efficacy testing of antimicrobials on military relevant surfaces.
Duties:
Development of innovative antimicrobial technologies and measuring their efficacy
Cultivation of surrogate biological agents to determine proof-of-concept for high-risk decontamination measures
Conduct decontamination studies, growth curve set-up, DNA extraction, protein expression and qPCR
Use of laboratory instrumentation including micropipettes, analytical balances, pH meters, UV-Vis. Spectrophotometers, and colorimeters
Prepare for laboratory research projects, maintains laboratory equipment and ensures laboratory cleanliness standards are met
Assist in the collection, organization, and analysis of scientific data using appropriate statistical methods, interpreting findings to support program objectives
Required Experience:
Undergraduate in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field
Required Education:
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field. Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required. Compensation at Precise Systems is determined by various factors, including education, experience, skills, competencies, and contract-specific requirements. The salary range for this position is $42, $65, annualized USD).This range represents the standard pay for this role and is just one component of Precise Systems' total compensation package.
